Roger Allen, director and co-founder of A&B, has practical credentials directly relevant to the Fund based upon over thirty years as a chief executive of a major Australian IT services company with worldwide operations, then 13 years as an active investor in private companies in the ICT industries.

Roger grew shareholder value in Computer Power from $250k in 1978 to $170m in 1995 (at the time of his retirement) and also grew the annual revenue to over $300m and staff to more than 3,000. Roger obtained private equity from News Corporation, through the direct involvement of Rupert Murdoch, prior to taking Computer Power public on the ASX in 1987. He has direct personal experience in selling Australian information technology products and services in the USA, Europe, Asia, as well as Australia.

He served for six years until 1997 as deputy chairman of Austrade and is very well known throughout the information technology industry in Australia and internationally. He was the first chief executive from an Australian company to be elected chairman of the Australian Information Industries Association, has represented Australia at the World Computer Services Forum and was vice-president of the Asia-Pacific industry organisation. He has also served on two advisory councils to the Prime Minister and has chaired state advisory boards in both NSW and Victoria. He has been an adjunct professor in the School of Entrepreneur-ship of Swinburne University and regularly lectures at INSEAD in the School of Entrepreneurship. Roger was recently awarded the 2007 Pearcey Medal for Lifetime Achievement in recognition for his outstanding contribution to the ICT industry.

Roger Buckeridge, director and co-founder of A&B, has been a venture capital and private equity fund manager since 1985 and an occasional corporate advisor and consultant to Australian companies and governments in the converging information industries. From 1985 to 1990, he served as chief executive of CP Ventures Limited, a $44m early and expansion stage publicly listed venture capital fund that he co-founded with Roger Allen, and subsequently was acquired by another investment group. In 1989-90, he led the raising of another venture capital fund, the A$33m Japan Australia Venture Capital Fund, that was principally supported by the ANZ Banking Group and a group of corporate and institutional investors from Japan.

From 1991 until establishment of A&B in 1996, Roger consulted to government and industry clients in Australia, in particular on aspects of the emerging information economy based upon the ICT and media industries.

In a thirty-year investment management and consulting career (including six years with McKinsey & Company), he has advised ICT industries clients in the United States, Japan and Australia, and has been associated, during their formative years, with several major venture capital investment successes in Australia. Earlier he trained as a scientist, holding a PhD in chemistry and BSc (Hons 1st Class) University of Western Australia, and managed an Asia-Pacific marketing unit within Ford Motor Company.

Helen Liu, director and CFO of A&B, is an Australian chartered accountant, and has been a member of the A&B team since 2001.

A native of Shanghai, Helen is a fluent speaker of Mandarin, and assists in monitoring the progress of two early-stage A&B projects in China and the China strategies of other investees. In 2005, Helen became a director of Allen & Buckeridge Asset Management Ltd and has oversight of the group's internal compliance and regulatory affairs.

Helen has 20 years experience in the financial and accounting industry. She holds a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from Beijing University and a Graduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance from Macquarie University.

Shane Allan joined the A&B team in July 2006. In the late 1980s he worked with Roger Allen as CFO of Computer Power (where he executed numerous M&A transactions in Australia, UK, Germany, France and the US). Shane has strong operational skills in early stage to large established businesses in ICT and media industries, particularly requiring M&A activity, initial public offering (IPO) and turnaround experience. He holds BComm and MBA degrees and is an Associate CPA.

He has served as CEO of Powertel Limited and also has held senior positions as Director of Finance and Director of Corporate Services for Telstra (under Frank Blount, he executed operational cost reduction and preparation for the T1 IPO, and had a key role in making investments in Foxtel, Indonesia and the Philippines); as Finance Director with Davids Holdings (where he led a turnaround and company sale to Metcash); and as finance director of Repco (where he led a turnaround and exit from the financially troubled Ariadne to Pacific Dunlop, and executed sale of the Wreckair, Nelson & Companion, and Framac businesses and the acquisition of Miniskips).

Shane is currently a non-executive director of ASX listed BigAir Group Limited, Orion Telecommunications Limited and Select Vaccines Ltd, and was until recently Chairman of SelecTV, where he supervised its sale to the WIN TV Group.

Tom has recently joined the A&B team after having worked closely since 2006 with several of our investee companies, providing strategic and business development consultancy.

Tom began his business career in 1985 in his native United States with a technology start up Covalent Systems (now owned by EFI) as Technical Account Manager before relocating to the UK to establish their European subsidiary. Over the next 10 years he fulfilled a series of roles in the organisation, expanding the business throughout Europe. These included Sales Director and culminated as Managing Director Europe. In 1996 he relocated to Sydney where he established an Asia Pacific subsidiary.

Over the next 5 years, Tom was involved in many projects, including the orchestration of a joint venture between New York based TMP Worldwide (now Monster Worldwide) and the PBL group in 2000. Joining Real Networks in 2001, Tom spent 5 years immersed in the world of online and digital media most recently as Vice President - Asia. In that time he was responsible for what is still the largest on-line video project in Australian history, as well as other major events including the on-line broadcast of the 2003 Rugby World Cup.

Tom has built businesses and teams in Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing and Tokyo. During his time at Real Networks, he directed their rapid Asian growth in mobile multimedia solutions including involvement in deploying technology and content solutions with more than 28 mobile and fixed line operators in 13 Asian countries. This success was an integral part of Real Networks' growth to become an industry leader in mobile multimedia solutions. Tom holds a BSc degree in Communications Management from California State University.

David Landers joined A&B in 2000, initially to manage the ePark Direct Equity Fund, an incubator of information technology industries ventures funded by a Commonwealth Government program. Since 2003 he has had lead responsibility for A&B's licensed pre-seed fund, the $21 million A&B Emerging Technologies Fund. This fund has now committed funds to 14 investments based upon intellectual property arising from R&D efforts within major research universities, government research organisations and corporate research labs in Australia. David also serves as an executive director of the general partner of a $30 million Companion Fund to the ETF that invests selectively in ETF portfolio companies after the completion of the seed financing stage.

David was executive vice president of sales and chief financial officer of AFL Ltd, a manufacturing business he co-founded in Shanghai and Beijing from 1995 to 1998, which was subject of a trade sale to a major UK based multinational. Prior to that he was the Asia regional head of M&A for Pepsi Cola International, where he completed close to $1 billion in acquisition and joint venture transactions.

Earlier, he gained over five years experience in technology driven strategy development and implementation for clients of Booz Allen & Hamilton throughout the Asia Region.

He has an MBA in International Business from the New York University Stern School of Management and is an honours graduate of the International Management Program at the Stockholm School of Economics. He received his undergraduate degree with distinction from the School of Entrepreneurial Management, Babson College, in Boston, USA.

Ian Maxwell has worked as a venture partner with A&B since the commencement of the ETF in 2003 and now co-directs the $51 million 2003 vintage pool of early stage technology investments with David Landers, Roger Allen and Roger Buckeridge.

He draws upon an extensive background in technology commercialisation, management, and research, including founding CEO of RPO Pty Ltd (an ETF investee), VP business development & intellectual property for Redfern Photonics, Corporate R&D Manager at James Hardie Group, International R&D Manager and other line management roles at Memtec Ltd. His academic appointments have been founding CEO of the Sydney University Polymer Centre (now the Key Centre for Polymer Colloids) and senior lecturer and post-doctoral fellow at the University of Technology, Eindhoven, Netherlands.

Ian holds a PhD & BSc (Hons, 1st Class), from the School of Chemistry, University of Sydney and has completed management courses at Harvard Business School and IMD, Switzerland. He has received awards including the Corday Morgan-Rennie Medal Exchange Award (1997) of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK) & the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and the Rennie Memorial Medal of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (1995). Ian has authored seven book chapters and more than thirty five research publications in business, material science, chemistry, biotechnology, biochemistry and polymer journals and holds more than thirty patent families in multi-media distribution, polymer materials, medical diagnostics, photonics, fibre-cement (products and production processes), membranes, filtration engineering and applications.

Jonathon has worked with A&B as a venture partner and interim CEO since the commencement of the Emerging Technologies Fund in 2003. He is CEO of an ETF investee company, Vast Audio, and he serves as a non-executive director and adviser for three other ETF investees: enikos, Heard Systems and Personal Audio.

During the early part of his career he was responsible for the growth and development of products and services for high transaction gaming services in Australian and US based casinos, this business included both hardware and software product development. Following the success of this business he directed the development of one of Sydney's first web site and ecommerce development firms, this company grew to a 50+ FTE consulting and product development firm throughout the mid to late 90s and was successfully sold to an international firm in early 2000. Jonathon has demonstrable experience as CEO in early stage commercialisation, management, and research he has grown businesses by either boot strapping or obtaining VC for growth plans. His experience is in balancing and incorporating the competing needs of inventors, founders, management and investors and providing clear strategic direction. His focus is on developing achievable milestones to success and exit.

Jonathon holds a B. Bus from UTS and is regularly asked to contribute at conferences and seminars on commercialisation and IP Management.

Lindy Tan joined the A&B group in late 2002. She is responsible for the business operations function of the Group, including Fund Administration, Office Administration and is a member of the Group's internal Compliance Committee.

Prior to A&B, Lindy has worked in diverse roles including Accounting and Finance, Events Management, Learning and Training Management, Office Administration and Executive Assistant. Lindy holds a Bachelor of Commerce, majored in Accounting and Finance from Griffith University, Queensland.
